Tag The Base Not The Runner

Tag the Base Not the Runner

When we look at a non-force out on the bases, there are a few things the infielder needs to know when making the tag. The first mistake young infielders make on a tag play is, they go after the runner. What we want to do is tag the base not the runner. I want you to think about what the runner is trying to do. Balance as a Baseball Player

Balance as a Baseball Player

Balance As An Athlete

Balance As An Athlete

Balance is a term we use in Baseball ASAP consistently. It is the one thing that every athlete has to have in order to be successful. If an athlete loses balance they lose control, power, and accuracy. It doesn’t matter what sport you play balance is a very important issue.

My definition of balance: Having complete control of your body relative to gravity pulling you down.

The 3 Catcher's Stances

THE 3 CATCHERS STANCES

There are three basic catchers stances. There is the sign stance, the receiving stance with no runners on base, and the receiving stance with runners on. The most important concept to all these stances is that the catcher is comfortable to make athletic plays. With all the different movements a catcher might have to make it is very important he is in a position to make strong movements. A catcher has to make close pitches look like strikes, block a ball in the dirt, throw… Continue

The “YES YES YES” Approach At The Plate

Once a batter steps into the batters box he has a mental decision to make. Am I going to step in with confidence or am I going to step in the box with fear? It is very natural for a hitter to be fearful or doubtful when there is a dominating pitcher on the hill. It is also natural for a hitter to gain a ton of confidence when there is a weaker pitcher on the hill, especially when the hitters before him are already hitting him pretty good. So what does this tell us, I think it means our opponent,… Continue

That looks like a pitch coming towards the hitter with some good action.... I also noticed the centerfielder in great ready position to field any ball coming his way. Good Job Stars

That sounds like a drill that would bring success. Thank you for sharing that with us. I like to say the first thing you need when you step in the box is your confident mental state, the next thing you need are your eyes. Strengthen both of those an…
